I created LGD to transform my own life with game design

But It doesn't mean it's perfect

Game Designers will make plans to make a game that is challenging but addicting

for their players to get hooked with grinding, learning and leveling up.

but that only comes from years of trial and error

if you look at the any development documentary of any game it is an extremely hard process.

I've learned that Life is much the same.

You only enjoy life as much as you design it to be enjoyable.

In childhood our parents were the designers of our lives,
and they tried their best to make it the best game we've ever played.

But after we grow up - that responsibility lies with us.

We won't feel the same joy or rate of progression we did when we were younger because no one else is going to come and design your life for you.

One of my favorite role models,

Ali Abdaal - Productivity expert, Author and Avid Gamer (5M Subs YT)

always raves on about how journaling drastically changes his life design.

I journal with pen & paper for big problems but this method has a massive limitation.

Imagine if you were to build your end game RPG character with just a sheet of paper.

No in game UI, no visualization of weapons, armor stats, achievements, etc

just words to read and then imagine in your head what your character even looks like.

It would be drastically harder to track your progress for every stat you had.

And after all that writing I would still need to go on a computer and manage my task load.

Paper life management vs digital life management

is like the difference between

Old school, dungeons and dragons on paper Vs Playing Skyrim

If you had 1 hour to play D&D vs Skyrim who would get more done and also enjoy it more?

In 1 second you know what these characters are all about

If the same characters were described on paper it'd take you ages.

If you want simple life management - you should expect simple results.

The same people who say

they "prefer simple life management systems like 1 task app or 1 journal"

are the same people who struggle to understand why they feel so behind in life.

I also felt like managing my life was a chore...

but that was because productivity app developers
make their apps for business employees, not gamers.

They don't care if it looks good,

they don't care if every step you need to do isn't clear,

they don't care if you achieved 5 amazing things this week, there is no "achievements" page.

So that's why I combined self improvement with game design.

Now I actually look forward to logging my projects and tasks for the week

because every day, week and month they accumulate as achievements that I'm proud of.

Below I'll show you the unfiltered account of the highs and lows that happened

this week in my life game design.

By playing the - Week Reflection - Reflect Mini Game from LGD Ultra

First I started by reviewing my projects and tasks for the week

and setting the ones I had done to 🏆 Achieved.

In the next page I see my Diamond and gold achievements this week on the left

and my journal on the right to help me reflect on them.

My Diamond achievements for the week were:

Releasing the Vision board mini games for free
Hitting my first $1000 in sales
Creating a bunch of reels for my girlfriend - our best memories together
Healing my skin back to normal ( I have eczema a dry skin condition)
this was huge for me!

Like I said - unfiltered reflection on how my week went - here are my journal entries

After celebrating my wins,

I always ask myself what lessons I learnt from the bad things

because even if I tried to design a week with no errors,

life is not a game like mario

It's a game harder than elden ring

It reminded me of a quote from one my favorite "cornerstone" books

After i do a reflection on how I can improve...

and then end with gratitude 😁 - always helps - you won't understand until you try.

After reflecting on my highlights my achievements are automatically categorized by OctaCore

So now I can see which areas of life I've done the best in.

This means if I say I'm going to work on improving my physique in 🟣 strength

but there are no achievements there

that means I need to focus on that life area.

I can also see an how many achievements I got for each category on the list

I also review which OctaCore Attribute made me the most fulfilled

The more I focus on these the better my life will be.

The thing is with any attribute system in a game - everyone's "build" will be different.

Here are my final stats - 51 achievements this week.
